Theres Times When I Think Poem by Beth Ann

Theres Times When I Think

There are time when
I think that maybe if
I opened up more to people
And was more sociable

Then maybe people
Might actually like me
And I would have alot more friends

People can extremely judgemental
And when you don't give them much
To go off of they can greatly misjudge you
It's no flaw on anyones part
It's just human nature

I would like to get
To know more people
And make more friends
But the possibility that they
Actually won't like me still exist
And I'm scared by it too much

I'm overly critical of myself
And I think I have a million character flaws
And I'm not that interesting

And I expect people to see me the same way
Even though people almost never see me
The way i see myself

God, I know exactly what you mean. Your great writing brought it all back to me. People judged me in church and in school. But they did not even know my name. You have captured what it is like to be misunderstood because we have no confidence in ourselves. Great write! Lynn Stilllman
