These Old Shoes Poem by Alfred Ramos

These Old Shoes

Rating: 4.5

These old shoes have kicked up too much dust
Seen too many people I just can’t trust

These old eyes have seen too much
Seen too many faces out of touch

I can’t paint the world with a magic brush
Too many egos in the can I just can’t crush

These old shoes have danced to many a tune
On a carpet of sun that blankets a rosy afternoon

But I’m a little tired of counting stars
It reminds me of too many dried up scars

These old shoes have been soaked in booze
These old shoes have treaded on too many blues

These old shoes have walked in shame
These old shoes have played the blame game

I may have come to the end of the road
Dropped too many a heavy load

Though worn and tattered, they still fit just fine
So don’t judge me until you have walk in mine
