These Soppy Old Popular Love Songs Poem by Francis Duggan

These Soppy Old Popular Love Songs

These soppy old popular love songs seem to live on in time
Back there in the late sixties when i was in my prime
In jukeboxes in bar-rooms they were played all night long
The often used word 'baby' was in every sixties song,
These soppy old popular love songs i hear them every day
Though once they were more popular not yet gone to decay
These soppy old popular love songs though the times are changing fast
Are still played on the radio as a memory of the past,
The sixties in pre heavy metal days gave us the Mersey sound
And in the pop songs of the sixties nostalgia can be found
The past lives on in memory though the past forever gone
And those soppy love songs of the sixties on radio living on
To the lovers of classical music pop is not music of the soul
But it was very famous in the days of rock and roll.
