They Can Make It Poem by Rose Kanana

They Can Make It

Rating: 5.0

The pride of a scholar
Is not much in what they attain in paper
The pride of a scholar is in
How they bring change around them and in them
Tears of joy engulf them
When the determination in a young mind
Seem so convincing that
They will bring change in the war torn country
They can make it against all odd

A phone call from miles away makes us proud
And we all run to document not only the immediate
But also the long term impact
Don't we love to see a young mind become better than us?
What else would we give to guests who have been family for over 2.5 decades?
The best gift to any child is an education
It takes them to higher horizons
It changes their mindset
No wealth is better than the wealth of the mind

Thank you so much madam Rose. Your beautifully written poem resonates with me. I want to tell you that, I am forever grateful for your kindness, your friendship and mentorship. You have no idea how much your support and guidance has helped me and I want you to know that you have made a big difference in my life. You have taught us English and literature with passion and you've personally motivated and inspired me to read more and think deeply and expansively about the world at a time when the classroom poems and stories were my main window to the world. I really appreciate and treasure these knowledge and skills you have given me. Truely the best gift ever! InshaAllah, With God's Will, peace will prevail. We are resilient and we will build our country back. Thank you very much and Merry chrismass to you and your loved ones.

Zamzam, this is a humbling comment.I am proud of all of you, we gave you the wings but you chose to fly to unlimited heights. May Allah continue guiding you and lets keep to the optimism that Somalia shall be on its feet as it was before 1991. Keep to your dreams.

Very well articulated. Education is the best gift you can give to a child. The impact may not be immediate but is sure is life long. Very encouraging to me.
