They Dance Around The Truth Poem by Francis Duggan

They Dance Around The Truth

To lie to them so easy the morally destitute
The easily corruptible who dance around the truth
They start to believe their own lies right into their old age
They can lie without blinking beyond their dotage stage.

When you get to know them better their every word you doubt
A fool could only trust them when it comes to word of mouth
Many who do hold high office inclined to be that way
Including bureaucrats and politicians amongst others that does seem sad to say.

For want of a far better word the truth they dance around
And with the untrustworthy they share some common ground
They lie to gain advantage they use it as a power thing
Yet some even idolize them and their praises even sing.

To lie to them so easy they see lying as good sense
Their best way of clinging to power their best line of defence
Against those who verbally attack them lying seems to get them out of strife
Lying with them more than a habit it is a way of life.
