Thick And Sticky Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Thick And Sticky

Thick and sticky.
Is the stepping on gum.
Thick and sticky.
Are the honey cones dumped.
In a barrel full.
With just one wanting to pull.
Thick and sticky,
Can be hands behind a back cuffed.
And seen in broad daylight.
Attempting to hide,
From all the jams crammed into one.
Thick and sticky.
Leaving stuck pigeons,
With no place to run.

Thick and sticky.
More than dry heat on skin can prick.
Leaving sweat to drip,
From heads so wicked.
On their own humidity they fall.
And slip.
As their misdeeds are made public.
Revealing missions of doing mischief.
Even those deceived disbelieve,
Watching in shock with jaws dropped.

So thick and sticky.
This wickedness to have done.
With a breaking of laws.
Sold to follow.
Not by themselves but everyone else.
And from positions to sit.
Allowed to destroy established foundations
Upon which stood for centuries.
Cemented in steel and re-enforced brick.
Now...
Discovered crumbling to the ground.
By ego, greed and corruption.
To give reason to redefine treason.
And how it applies to politicians,
In the midst of doing it.
These are times,
No one should remain blind to reality.
As thick and sticky,
The sickness of it is!
