This Day, I Am Able Poem by Kimberly Lindsey

This Day, I Am Able

I woke up to see sunshine coming in the window,
And knew it would be a glorious day.
I watched the world from my perch, in bed, by the window.
The birds were singing, and everywhere, there was a glow.
The puppies were yapping, the kittens were rolling,
The ducks and geese on the pond for a swim.
As I rolled out of bed, I thanked God for such a gift.
For being alive to appreciate, all of this.
The children were sleeping, snuggled up in their beds,
Coffee brewing, as I piled my hair on my head.
With a smile on my face, and a bounce in my step,
I was ready to face this day, full of zip and pep.
I can conquer it all, whatever is thrown at me,
Bring it on world, I can take it today!
I will take it in stride, and complete every task,
And at the end of the day, in my accomplishments I will bask.
For this day, I can do it, my mind is able,
I don’t have to hide behind a mask.
