This Time Poem by John Hazon Palen

This Time

Rating: 5.0

I miss our firefly-catching days
Fighting dragons for us were games
Wish I could go back then and stay
But all i can do for now is pray

Indeed, our carefree days ended
And their smiles faked and paths winded
I'm glad we've had happy times made
Good to recall as I'm frustrated

This fire in my heart's hard to put out
Same thing felt when we turned apart
In life, the water's rough, stakes are high
And it kept me strong inside but this time.

(This poem was made when I was really lonely. Around that time, a long-time no-see and no-contact high school friend of mine just happened to text me of how I was.. and so I made this poem to burst out my feelings.)

i no this feeling....i was a foster kid growing up i always felt unworthy, i always felt alone... and hurt, i ended up homeless after getting out of foster care no home to go home to... and i still dream that someone will love me for me and love me and one day that i will have a home. i still hope even when hoping is getting hard with the consistant loneness and cold world getting colder and even when my familys abusive....i easily forgive... my heart cant seem to be bitter.... i love like i havent been hurt even tho ive been hurting my whole life... sad but true... i love even when its hard....thx for letting me read.... this poem is absolutely wonderful and i feel the depth in it... :)
