Those Who Follow The Leaders Poem by Francis Duggan

Like many you follow the leaders with me this is quite okay
But for following the leaders the price you do pay
By losing your individuality and giving some of your powers to others away
And on so doing on the swelling of big egos your own part does play
Those who follow the leaders are not in the few
And this is not saying anything that is new
And by following flawed leaders the status quo they retain
And from their gullibility the egotistical greedy always gain
Those who the praises of their flawed heroes and heroines only does sing
Any changes for the better never does bring
Of a famous follower we never does hear of or read
Since followers never get their chance to lead
Of those who follow the leaders their can be little doubt
That in most cases it is not due to them that change does come about.
