Thought Food Poem by don sagraves

Thought Food

Deep within my memory there's a tree beside a stream
Where in my childhood days I would stare at the sky and dream.
Of places that I dare to go, and places that I care to go,
and all the things I wanted so, so distant the always seemed
All time stood still and the minutes passed like years,
But gave sufficient time for a youth to come to terms with his dreams and fears.
Then suddenly it happened and I wasn't even aware
I had now seen and done tings that before I would never dare.
Now time goes by so quickly that I never have time to dream
And it's not what I had imagined, no it's not what it had seemed.
So when my thoughts hunger for tranquility I go back in my mind,
To a tree beside a stream, in a more pleasant place and time.
