Thoughts - Poem by Anji Carter

Incandescent, spinning, spiralling in the midst of my alter-ego,
Thoughts…
Circumstances provoking reactions,
Some to which my preference would be rejection,
If I only had selection,
Of my thoughts.
Too many! Chasing courses of their own creation,
Where is peace beneath this devastation?
Ideas, badly handled, can become weapons for the tongue,
Wounding deeply if they are not handled with the utmost care.
Thoughts…
Castles that crumble.
The "pie in the sky" was eaten,
Gobbled up!
No crumbs left for lesser mortals on the tablecloth of life.
Where are you Lord, who divided such small loaves
To such large effect?
They crucified you!
Thoughts…
Not to be chased, erased!
Nothing could be that easy,
Not and keep its value.
Thoughts…
But even through the thickness of life's blanket,
Somewhere a light is shining
In my thoughts…
Dreams wait in the distance,
Gently girdling the glow that is given,
Where even an ember becomes a remember,
To start all the wondering again.
Thoughts…
Fed with sufficient kindling,
Are fanned into a fire which burns so brightly,
That all who approach can share its warmth,
And see its light,
Within their thoughts…
We have a name to call the ember,
Initials we use,
To help us remember.
Telepathy or E.S.P.
What will we name the fire?
