If I close my eyes now
I can think back to the first day we met
Seeing you for the first time
Certain you would be a boy
When they put you in my arms
I remember actually catching my breath
Beautiful baby girl, feelings of love
I never experienced before
The years have passed so quickly
Trying to hold onto those moments of me and you
Watching you grow into who you are becoming
Head strong and sensitive all rolled into one
It is true some days holding my breath
As you pass through your own struggles
As I know we all must to find our way
So much wisdom you have
With a heart that wants so much for others
To understand and accept
Looking at you through mothers eyes,
I see you clearly
I smile at the young women
I see unfolding before me
One that will not let the world skate by
On formalities that are not real
Who will stand up and be heard
Even when others turn away in fear
Luck for me I am your mother
I get to witness this, your life
