Three Strikes Poem by gershon hepner

Three Strikes

Three umpires. One calls strikes
because, he says, they are.
The second calls them as he likes
just as he sees, bizarre.
The third one is a realist
and says they’re nothing till
he’s called them. He must insist
that each strike is his will.
