Thunder Shower Poem by Debendra Majhi

Thunder Shower

When my village
Braced with heavy downpour,
Squally winds gusting
Upto 60 Km per hour

The giant tamarind trees
Surrounding our house
Wavered dare devil
And thrashed life to peril.

Water seep from roof all around,
Pots inside to collect all around,
Water and water all around,
But our joys knew no bound.

Mother prayed to the thunder god
Tamarind Trunk danger the most.
One branch may perish the house and all,
Intimidating whirlwind swings
With violent gust.

The water fell like waterfalls
From nowhere and from everywhere
Drops lashed hard as pelting stones
The ripen paddy Inundated
Battered severely by the wind
Dashing hopes of many in grind.

The bubbles were born
And died the same time
The thunder and the storm,
Invaded as twins.

Darkness all around
But still hope precipitated
After the thunder shower
And Lightening downpour.
