Thunderstorm Poem by Jon M. Nelson

Thunderstorm

As night turns into morning,
The light is still so dim.
I listen to the warning,
As the new dawn begins.

I feel the ground shudder,
As the thunder shakes the skies.
My heart begins to flutter,
As I can't believe my eyes.

As the lightning crashes,
It ripples through the air.
As I watch the flashes,
It's so hard not to stare.

The thunder begins to clatter,
As it screams its voice.
The sound can only shatter,
With that deafening noise.

The clouds begin to darken,
As the rain pours down.
The thunder is still barkin'
With that somber sound.

And so before too long,
Everything will be soaked.
As the storm still sings its song
My vision becomes cloaked.

As the storm starts to unwind,
I still can feel its power.
It's amazing what you'll find,
After the immense shower.

As the clouds begin to break,
And the sunlight's shining through,
I see devastation in the wake,
Now that the storm is through.

Piercing through the clouds,
The sunlight begins to shine.
As the wind removes the shrouds,
It's all part of the great design.

A rainbow remains to signify,
That the storm is at its end.
Shining brightly in the sky,
As a reminder of a Godsend.
