Time Poem by Clive Holmes

TIME

The tide has turned
the waters receded
time has passed
ebbed and flowed

When we chose to meet
surely I was blessed
to find a treasure so rare and true
if only once in this lifetime

Each morning, your smile lifted the start of my day
the sun rising
the moon waxing
Your calm spirit easing my way

Over 10,000 times we headed out
to walk, run and play
around 6000 miles or there about
just all part of our day

How many times did I look into your eyes
only we can surely know
the soothing softest brown
I bathed and swam within your gentle soul

Warm, sweet loving chest
I sometimes used this place to rest
when I awoke, my heart filled with joy
for I was cradled with my boy

One last time I say, special friend
you and I have travelled far
strong and brave as ever now
I love you forever from head to tail

Darling sweetheart Huckleberry
now you are with the stars
twinkling and exploding
reflections of our promises past

I will always see you, feel you
through the burning bright light in my heart
I will hold you close Blue
for we are never far apart
