Time Machine Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Time Machine

Rating: 4.0

If I had a time machine where would I go?
Into the future to see how humanity fared
Against wars, global warming and viruses.
Back in time seeking out great men and women,
Famous for wisdom who helped build a better world?
No, I would return to the days of my childhood
Waking up on a Christmas morn with presents
Hearing the laughter of parents and brother
When I was innocent with many years to go.
Happiness is fleeting, coming and going
Leaving only fading memories in its wake.
How I long to be young again, free and joyful
Running on summer days through sunlit woods
With friends from long gone but not forgot.
