    Dear Fr. Colin Jeffery,

I am sorry about the delay replying you due to certain pressing personal preoccupations.

I must confess that I have impaired hearing and usually avoid audio recordings. However, I did visit your U-tube upload and heard out all the poems recited by you in a beautifully paced manner. When and where I didn’t hear you properly, I did go back to the text at your PH poetry page to verify.

I see that our fellow-poet Mr. Ramesh Rai has done the upload. Both of you deserve immense congratulations for your grand effort. The fast -changing images are very vivid and well selected to go with the themes of the poems. Overall, a marvelous presentation!

Your war poems are really moving, which perhaps speak of your childhood war trauma (and shell-shock?) that has trickled down into you from your soldier dad. Your poetry is the grand reconciliation of two roles poles apart - of a soldier’s son and that of a priest. “Tribute To The Fallen” moved me very much and, in my opinion, that one is your best war-related poem. Of non-war themes, while “Aberfan” and “Death Of A Sperm-Whale” had me moved to tears, I loved the beauty of “The Cat”, “Poet” and “Keeper Of My Heart”. I have commented under these poems.

You are a versatile poet, adept at economy of words.

Thanks for inviting me to your U-tube upload.

I am not very familiar with U-tube settings and can’t figure out how to upload my comments directly there. Kindly advise how it is done. In the meanwhile I am pasting a copy of this on “Opinion About The Poet” page at PH.

    Great regards.

    Colin,
Had a chance to visit your YouTube page also read some of your poetry on the site. As somebody who just started writing again after a long absence; your poetry is inspiring and also something to emulate. I really liked the poem 'Billy'. You described the essence of a persons soul and it's purity in a few short words. Thanks for writing.

    Colin,
I just visited your yotube page and...am beyond impressed. Your works on the Great War and WW II transcend literature, and should be read by every student of history and the humanities. I'll be a regular reader of your work. Outstanding.

Best Poem of Colin Ian Jeffery

Billy

He never speaks
Trapped within a damaged brain
Body twisted, limbs trembling
Sitting in a hospital yard
Humming tunes without melody.
But in his bright soul he stands tall
Articulate with mind intact
Singing melodious songs of love
Only God and he can hear.

I Believe

I believe in Almighty God
Miracles and saints
Good overcoming evil.

I believe in love
Divine truth, everlasting light
The Devil and fires of Hell

I believe in a childhood dream
