Time Stands Still. Poem by Zoe Bee

Time Stands Still.

Rating: 5.0

Birds freeze in mid air,
dogs bark cease,
dusk lingers along horizons peak.
Mechanical geared wheels,
Driven by a wound spring,
motionless,
as time stands still.

Never ending torture,
as I glance around my room,
wondering when sun rise
will swaddle my restless cocoon.

You had my heart once,
you had my soul in your grasp,
My world dangled on your string,
what trouble they would bring,
As Time stands still for me,
Haunted by the past,
Wishing I new what it had in store for me,
Like a slip of a glass once in my clasp
Shattered and dismantled,
Like tiny cogs from a clock in parts,
never knowing what other small part would last.
Like time it's self,
a continuous flow of sand, slipping through my fingers.
-As that's life's plan.

Seeing you again,
lightened my endless dusk,
The wound springs slow awakening,
begin the beats of my heart,
a tiny flame ignite,
after long unsettled times,
They say 'Times is a healer',
perhaps this is true?
A hope that's never through,
humanities curse in truth,
But this clock is hopeful still,
its spring is set by you.
