To Albert On Having Been Late For 's O T C' Poem by Francis Duggan

To Albert On Having Been Late For 's O T C'

Oh Albert wise man from east side of Melbourne Town
We your true friends of late have felt let down
Since we will not be seeing you on t v
In big quiz game 'Sale Of The Century'.

For your screen test appointment you were slightly late
And the receptionist said to you I'm sorry mate
But another took your place and time is time
And we are punctual here at channel nine.

Your chance of fame and fortune you did miss
But you had to keep an eye on Nick and Chris
And stay at work till knock off time at four
Your business first we understand the score.

Oh Albert by the clock you have been beat
But one time late doesn't ever mean defeat
Enter again give it another try
As you've got nothing to lose and never you say die.

With your great brain a quick fortune you could make
So enter again if just for your own sake
And next time at the appointed time be there
And make yourself a dollar millionaire.

And let those Ferntree Gully people know
That Albert D'elassandro isn't slow
And let all of the people of Australia see
That very wise men come from Italy.
