To all of you who treat me with respect I treat you in kind
And in me I am sure a friend you will find
Like an old saying I recall what we give we receive
To me that seems apt and on such I believe
But to you who in your arrogance does put me down
And dismiss me as a lowbrow of the town
I just want to say do unto others as you'd like them do to you
Those words remain relevant and as ever true.
The passage of time has left her looking old
But you tell her she looks pretty to behold
And though you may be what is known as stretching the truth
She will bless you for your kindness that is born of ruth.
A few words of kindness can go a long way
And it surely will help for to make someone's day
But words can be hurtful when used to offend
By those who do not wish to have you as a friend.
