To Be A Parent Poem by Frank Sheehan

To Be A Parent

To be a parent
comes with a
whole array of
functions, responsibilities,
sensibilities, rewards,
emotions, feelings,
compassion, desires,
actualities and an
overall trepidation
that borders
on the insane.
It consists of the
most satisfying acts
that are done with
complete unselfishness
that encompass
a wide realm
of realities, stupefaction.
It is the most natural
of all states,
giving out gifts
that dwarf
all the gold, silver, jewels
in the universe.

Great summing up of a parent's role, with a positive spin. You might enjoy my " Conversation with a Bear."
