To Be Different Poem by Strange Fruit

To Be Different

Is it not good to be different?
Is it not an asset to be your own?
Is it bad to be an individual?
Or do you have to live life as a clone?

Why are we to be judged by the colour of our skin?
The clothes we wear?
Our favourite music?
Or the colour of our hair?

Is it crazy or is it just me?
Am I lacking in sanity?
To think this world can live as one,
each of us different
and none of us wrong.

So much wisdom from a 'strange fruit'. I really loved this poem. No, you aren't alone in your thinking. Sincerely, Mary
