If I were to date again
I truly would not know when,
Would I date someone tomorrow
I would not! without thinking or sorrow.
Would I maybe wait for a week later
Before, I would think to ask to date her,
I say that I would not because of my will
As in my soul there is no excitement or thrill.
Of course I have dated in the past
I once had a relationship that I wanted to last,
But, by her I was used at every turn
Then my belief in dating she did brutally burn.
I am tired of all of these dating games
And I am tired of broken promises and false claims,
And I am especially tired of lying and cheating
Especially, when they keep on repeating.
I do miss not having a girlfriend
I truly miss that one loose end,
Everything else that I needed and that I wanted I got
Many times for it, I had furiously fought.
I'm not looking to again be used
Or to be emotionally or financially abused,
And I'm not looking to again be ignored
Or to see my face on a dartboard.
So, do I really know when I'll be ready
To find that one woman to go steady,
Maybe when I hear that special voice or see a certain grin
But, besides that, I do not know when.
