To Earth Mother Poem by Francis Duggan

To Earth Mother

To our Earth Mother our greatest achievements seem small
She is the one who supports and feeds us all
Though she is the one we depend on to live
We take and take from her and in return to her little give
Our very existence on her does depend
But we never does treat her as our greatest friend
The great wealth she possesses with us she does share
And she is the one who creates every billionaire
We could not survive without her though us she does not need
And she is exploited by humans for greed
Our so called financial economy without her could not exist
Yet of our priorities she is low on our list
For everything we have on her we depend
Yet we never treat her as our greatest friend.
