To Love Deeply Poem by Dorsey Baker

To Love Deeply

when my body is hungry
it is you I eat
when my soul is thirsty
it is
you that I drink
we both meet
upon the street
full of our loneliness
walk away
full of love
and happiness
the mountain
it can be
no stronger
than this
that we feel
our footstool
it becomes
as our eyes
boldly Pierce the
clear blue sky
above us
wandering birds
wings flapping
and fluttering
move in desperation
we dance naked for them
unaware that
our nakedness
does not impress them
