To My Father's 1950s Morris Minor Poem by Sheena Blackhall

To My Father's 1950s Morris Minor

Dear Morris Minor,
I praise you today with all my heart
For faithfully sweetening my childhood
With trips to Lochnagar, Braemar, and even Ireland

I praise you for your gift of family freedom
To explore, to enjoy, to expand our view of the world
Thank you for your smell of petrol, leather, heather.
Thank you forbreathing pleasure right into my soul.

Wherever your parts are now
May they still be useful
If not, in the Name of British engineering,
RIP Morris Minor, bearer of hope and comfort
