To My Friend Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

To My Friend

Rating: 5.0

You said something so kind to me last night
that took away some of my sadness
You said, a friend you wish me to be
forever

I remember what you said
you said it like this:
Jim, you are the type of friend I want forever
and those words felt so sincere and kind

They eased my troubles
and they eased my mind
and the meaning of friendship
your words did remind

I just wanted you to know
that always I do care
happy to know you're alive
and happy you're there

You've been a kind voice to me
always unassuming and pure
and if I ever do completely heal
you're part of my cure

You make me realize that we all
are part of a whole
and make me more conscious
of my tiny role

And if I can make your life feel
just a little bit kinder
You've more than repaid me
with your gentle reminder

You are a woman
beautiful in your way
as you struggle and toil
and try through each day

And God up above I'm sure
he does see you
and I'm glad that he gave me the joy
of knowing you too

Because the world would be less a place
without good people like you
