To My Happiness Poem by nancy kathleen elardo

To My Happiness

I was standing there all along
Waiting for you to sing my song
Chasing the stars until I land in the moon
Goodbye to my happiness - I'll be back soon

Like the sun that shines in the velvet sky
You once brightened my fearful eye
Everything was perfect just like the way I felt
But never did I notice - in your hands my heart would melt

I looked in the mirror and began to question WHY
Why on earth do I have to see my precious eyes to cry?
Until a tiny smile was born and wiped those tears goodbye
Now once again I'll open my eyes to watch you fly up high

Look into my eyes and tell me what you see
Have you seen the broken parts.. left inside of me?
But no need to worry if you think I'm not okay
Because life would be better if I tell you not to stay

So here I am now - back were i belong
Ready to accept that you'll never sing my song
Staring at the moon while counting all the stars
Goodbye to my happiness - goodbye to painful scars.
