To Poetry Or Not To Be Poem by Quel Saige

To Poetry Or Not To Be

To poetry or not to be
The life of the letter r
is short-lived

To poetry or not to be
The water that tumbles through vacant space
to its death
And rebirth
from watery ashes

To poetry or not to be;
Is the color of
unrequited love
Perhaps blue—perhaps violet—
Perhaps not-at-all-a-color—
Perhaps 'tis the number φ—
not-one-not-two-unhappy-median

To poetry? I
Should think.
(though perhaps the not-to-be
should redefine—me)

The color of
unrequited love,
love not-to-be
is the color of poetry
a
softish
mauvish
blue
not-quite-two
