To Read Jussawalla Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Adil Jussawalla is a poet of the sixties,1960's; of the post-independence period, a modernist and a post-moderist as well. His poetry is the poetry of poetic fragmentation, the disintegration of the self.

To read is to charter the course of modernism, is to stitch the Partition-time stories and to have a peep into the self and psyche of Adil Jussawalla the Parsi poet tracing his origin back to Persia, retreading a forgotten pathway to relocate it, his tour and travel, sojourn and stay abroad and finally the return journey back home.

To speak of Adil Jusawalla is to speak of his studies done abroad, his race and identity, alienation, homesickness, stay and sojourn. A modernist and post-modernist, he is a poet of Bombay, the origin and history of Bombay, how has it given shelter to diverse people who came seeking to, Bombay through the ages.
