To The Honourable T. H. Esq; On The Death Of His Daughter

Rating: 3.3
WHILE deep you mourn beneath the cypress-shade
The hand of Death, and your dear daughter
laid
In dust, whose absence gives your tears to flow,
And racks your bosom with incessant woe,

Death and sadness go hand in hand. " To see on earth my aged parents mourn" . This is sheer sadness. It is also sad to know that Phyllis Wheatley was living in poverty. She had lost her infants young. And later on, she died at the age of 31, while giving birth.
