Today Poem by April Monroe

Today

I wore a hint of purple lipstick today,
Not sure you noticed
As, you didn't say

My eyes shimmered with a glint of white,
I knew you would see
And say how pretty they were this night

I made sure to lotion up
in case my body
was wanted by you to touch

My hair was as soft as could be
in hopes you would
run your hands through it while holding me

These things didn't happen this way
but maybe tomorrow,
you'll want me how I wanted you today
