This And That Poem by April Monroe

This And That

Rating: 5.0

This and that and then more too
Not one thing I can't do
Dishes, laundry, floors all mopped
Toilets, carpets, anywhere husband's flopped
Socks off the floor
Mail off the door
Baby off the table
Paper napkins, T.V. cable
Bills and errands, dog's all walked
Mother-in-law even talked
This and that and then birthed three
With a career all for me
Vomit, fevers, midnight screams
Dad's too sick himself it seems
Chills myself, but have to move
Nyquil for Mom won't do
To cuddle, hug and console
Sleep isn't in this role
'Single-mom' best friend call
Complains 'baby daddy' won't take all
Now party weekend is done
She has to watch youngest son
Back to runny noses, screams and dirt
Head, neck, back all hurt
House clean, weekend over
Back to career-wife-mother
This and that and then more too
Not one damn thing she gets credit for that I can't do

A vivid portrayal of the day to day life of working mothers. In a couple of seconds a reader would know what is going on in the woman's mind. A great poem that deals with the realities of life. Well penned.10

A woman's work is never done And we can tell you, IT'S NO FUN! Cleverly and faithfully presented. Very well summarized And the horror of it all, Not augmented. Good work!
