Today And Yesterday Poem by soren Barrett

Today And Yesterday

We used to dance together, today we dance apart
In the past we surrendered to a partner's lead, today each paints their own art
Once holding one another, in each other's arms we touched heart to heart
Now not even a friendly hand do dancers to each other impart

The music once soft, called for an embrace
Whispers heard so close, lips touching face to face
Now others between us, in a one night stand so much space
Attempts to take your hand seen as old fashioned disgrace

Solitary orgasm a dance of masturbation
No longer a romance, sex without a conversation
Today such distance between us, loud music deafens my ear
Might as well be dancing with another, me you will never touch or hear

A crowded darkness between us, strobe light in your eyes
Nothing left to discuss, on the dance floor romance dies
