Today I Met An English Man Poem by alan brown

Today I Met An English Man

Today I met an Englishman
as he traveled on his way.
His gait was wide and strenuous
as he passed by me in May.

His dress was smart and dapper
while his look was stern but plain
When I asked him where he was going
He would only gave me his name.

His name was of the highest gain
while he lived a life so plain
And when he looked into my eyes
I felt a quick sharp pain.

His posture did alure me
while his voice called out my name
But I knew I could not answer
as I lived a life so vein.

His eyes were blue as frozen ice
his words relieved my pain
While in this trance I opened my eyes
and he was gone again.

I pray do not take this from me
as this riches is all I have
and when I looked the man was there
and in fact he was my God
