Today, I Voted! Poem by Randy McClave

Today, I Voted!

I don't care what the weather will be like
I don't care if I gotta take a mile hike,
And I don't care if it's raining or if it's snowing
I'm still going.
I don't care if I have to wake up early
I don't care if I'm tired or a little too surly,
And I don't care if there is a long, long line
Patiently, I will wait and I will not whine.
I don't care if they had relocated or moved
I'll still be there as I before have proved,
And I don't care to use a pencil or a pen
I'm still looking for a win.
I don't care if others have used the mail
Them I will give a thumbs up and a congratulations yell,
And I don't care if I'm watched by vigilantes or a cop
I'm still going, and I won't be intimidated or will I stop.
I don't care if they are either red or blue
I already know what I got to do,
And I don't care what people might think about them or me
I am still here patriotically and proudly.
I don't care what they think when I walk through the door
As I have walked through it many times before,
And the first thing that they will always hear
Is when with a smile I will say, "I am here! "
When my country does ever call
I will not ever ignore her or will I ever break the law,
Today my pride has been promoted
Because today, I have voted.
