In the past, in green days gone by
I understood love
The joy, the hope, the movement in my heart
I understood and gave to it
And it left in days gone by

In the past, in days all done
I embraced hope
The wish, the promise, the reassurance in my soul
I embraced and submitted to it
And it left in days now done

In the past, in time now over
I gave myself to it
The living, the giving, the rejoicing in my life
I celebrated each moment in it
And it left in a time here over

But today will be a new day
I look forward to it
Living again, hope again, rejoicing again
Even in an uncertain time of change
Today will be a day in which to live.
