Today Is Twenty First Century Day Poem by Wayne Falconer

Today Is Twenty First Century Day

Mankind's been to moon landed, rocket on mars
invented amazing machines built newer cars
but what higher intelligence has been learnt
are our options running out our bridges burnt.

Real need is still outpaced by societies greed
over half the planet hunger and still bleed
inequality and violence beyond your front door
is fact in law you know the reality score.

Global pollution there's still no solution found
the rain forest they are still chopping around
after decade upon decade of deadly assault
environment everywhere is in full frontal revolt.

International bankers are the power who dictate
our living standard state our countries fate
some grow richer and richer most grow poor
still the age old dollar cries out more, more.

Nuclear families are having increasingly hard time
children are unwanted look see the big ad sign
social unrest social distress there's growing mess
shall families survive well its anybodies guess.

Disallusionment drugs violence and lawlessness
yesterday or today we see more not less
television plays the plastic false god theme
drugged audience swallows the shallow dream.

Problems I'm talking about, problems and social ills
drugs famine, wars and hatred whose action kills
when shall we see higher new age of light
replace the technological dark greed of night.

Again I'll say where's new age intelligence way
to create happy world and society better day
where love, joy and hopes planted within every mind
the great design whose faith shall change all mankind.

Perhaps we need pour calm water upon whirlpool sea
yet I truely believe the good heart holds the key
leaving me adrift with final awaiting line to say
how today is anew glorious twenty first century day.
