Together Again, Now Miles Apart Poem by Rebecca Cox

Together Again, Now Miles Apart

When I saw you standing there,
In the sun and all it’s light,
My heart skipped a beat, far too hopeful of this sight.
But, it turns out this sight indeed, was true.
For within moments, I was standing there with you.
Wrapped within your arms, held by your embrace,
All thoughts in my mind thoroughly erased.
For within that moment, I was were I have longed to be,
Hearing you say you love me was enough to set me free.
Free from my pain, and free from my sorrow.
But by tomorrow, I’ll be wishing you were here,
So I could whisper words so sweet and low, right beside your ear.
But this phone I speak through at this moment, it’ll have to do for now.
Tears run down my face, now without a sound.
My tears are simply a reminder that my love for you is real,
The pain within my heart, with time it shall heal,
When you, my love, return to me,
The separate halves joined, back where they should be.
The greater half of my heart now rests with you,
While what I hold left longs for you alas.
But for those few, small fleeting hours,
We were together again at last.
But now as I look back, it seems far into the past.
Worry not, my love, we’ll be together again soon,
Long enough to stand together, basking in the moon…
