Togetherness Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Togetherness

Beautiful creation
perfect in the eyes of him
different in appearance of all shapes and sizes
but we all come with one simple flaw
knowing the difference between right and wrong
life is an experience for us all
Inhabitants of this earth and alien to this world
Why with all our differences can't we live together?
Is you heart filled with little space for harmony?
Why rob one of their pride and leave them wounded?
Is it because it is a reflection of yourself?
One you choose to cast upon another
Inflicting the same pain and the same hurt
deep with inside yourself that you feel
fear is natures defense to protect oneself
but hate should have no place in your home
let go of your prejudice and all you were taught
and let what you learn erase all you have thought
We are all different
and were served a purpose
neither one is worthless
racism divides what is considered beautiful
Peace from within can bridge the gap
If there's a way to begin to understand
How the very differences in which is seen
can mend the fences spread apart
