Tom Was Always Late. Poem by U Win Kyi

Tom Was Always Late.

Rating: 5.0

Tom was always getting late,
Making other people wait.
Their time became a lot of waste.
'Never again.' was a promise he always made.
But never keeping them was what his friends hate.
One day, with his girlfriend he had a date.
Meeting her at a place near a beautiful lake.
Getting there in time that he could'nt make.
His being always late she could'nt take.
His lame excuses she could'nt tolerate.
So their relationship had to break.
That was the fruit he sowed and reaped.
That was the end of the game.
No one but he himself was to be blamed.

To him, it was a great loss.
Not to say the firing by the boss.
He had been changing job after job.
Like a rolling stone, he gathered no moss.
Like a knocked-out boxer, a towel he had to toss.

Being joblessness caused him very depress.
Paying the bills gave him a lot of stress..
The worst feeling he could'nt express.
How could he get out of the mess?
His mind could'nt find peace or rest.

Self-esteem getting lower and lower.
Then one day luck seemed to give him a favour.
He was called to have a job interview.
Hoping to turn a leaf which was new.
But the old habit was hard to kick.
He overslept though the alarm bell clicked.
Fearing not able to get there on exact time,
The traffic rule he could'nt mind.
He ran the red light and ended in a terrible accident.
In a bloody mess he died in an instant.
He did everything very late.
That had never benefited a bit for his sake.
But one early thing did he really make,
He died at the age of twenty-six.
