Too Late Now - Poem by Rebecca Wright

All the time we were close friends
but i wanted so much more.
Each day i'd send you little hints
to show you i adored

be it on a field or in a church
i'd crave your gentle heat.
We'd sit together on the bus
with my heart glued to the seat.

of course, i did nothing
and time crawled slowly by,
til suddenly you went away.
I felt like i would die

The moments passed, turned into years
and slowly, i moved on
but my heart gave up on love
because it knew that you were gone

So three years later as i recall,
your friend. James. speaks to me
He says: 'he loved you afterall
but now he's in love with me'
