Too Long Being Old Poem by Dorsey Baker

Too Long Being Old

Smell of that
Very sick bedsheet
Old bones boneless
Constantly crying in pain

Silent misery!
Darkness of deep set eyes
Like sparks of fire
Flying away
In a big blue sky
Crystal clear

Another back
Bent and almost broken!
Like a very heavy tree
That's stopping over
Too much weight!

Too much time wasted
Thinking!
Heaven becomes hell
A dream no longer
But a scary nightmare
The beauty! Of youth
Evaporated
Into the ugliness
Of old age
The tick tock
Of the clock
Is ticking more quickly now!
