Too Much Comfort - Poem by Dorsey Baker

Caught off guard
you stumbled
and you fell hard
upon your head
the robin lays an egg
tumbling off
your throne
you break a bone
being so fragile
you must take
careful steps
your footsteps their
tracks leaving behind
someone will follow you
and walk in them
you will be gone
a long time and your shadow
will disappear
and your red blood
will sink into the ground
and it will change its color!
