Top Hat Long Coat Original 10 19 2010 Poem by Lee B. Mack

Top Hat Long Coat Original 10 19 2010

Top hat –long coat
Mustache thin as pinstripe
Face the gloss of pomade…
Saturday morning snow poles
Semicircle and crescent hoods
Covering the horn of deer ear
Listening to the musical
Maiden voyage -ladies hurry for
Buses that carry workers imprisoned
To eat from troughs -of city suburbs
And malls -bulwark fringes slide away
From culture -pressing dimension
Shades back against walls of fenced
Off freedom from open grazing
Freedom fences shut off pleasures
Short lived to die too soon
Utensils boxed in storage for
Rains and pains -all that remains
From fixing things –the good die
Young but complete standing on
Mountain tops blowing in tune
With the blues of the muse
and the swing of the string musicale.
