Tornado Devastation Poem by Marilyn Lott

Tornado Devastation

Rating: 5.0

It came spiraling down from above
This twisting darkened thing
We looked to the sky in horror
What damage would this one bring?

We prayed and grabbed our valuables
The things that meant the most
But ultimately what really mattered
Not things, but our loving folks

Leaving the scene is frightening
For what would we find in return?
The questions penetrate inside us
Fear in our hearts always burns

And then when the storm is over
We're so grateful our loved ones are safe
Of course soon reality settles
As we see what else we must face

The safety we all take for granted
Inside the walls of our home
Are gone in just a few minutes
We wonder where we belong

No one knows what will happen
Whether illness or what nature intends
We can't take anything for granted
But must deal with whatever life sends!
