Travel Light! Poem by Denis Martindale

I pity those with riches still,
Each time they see the Saviour's hill,
For Christ gave all that He possessed,
So that each sinner could get blessed.

Will rich men give away their all,
In some way bring a miracle,
While here on Earth, where sorrow grows,
Just like a weed and not a rose?

Will rich men sacrifice so much,
Whenever conscience comes to touch,
When blind and lame, and deaf and dumb,
Need so much money still to come?

Will rich men get to find God's love,
And meet Lord Jesus up above,
Rejoice with Him when they were poor
Whenever they gave more and more?

The poem got written after watching the
Revelation TV teaching by presenter Yemi
about rich people and possessions that could
stop them from getting forgiven and saved by
the power of the Cross. Believers should store
up treasure in Heaven rather than on Earth.

To get blessed is one thing, yet the Lord Jesus
teaches us that to bless others is everything.
