POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Visitors to Thailand are usually more familiar with the ancient ruins of Ayutthaya because of its closer proximity to Bangkok. While Ayutthaya's ruins offer a fascinating study into the rise of Siam, what some locals and scholars consider as the most important kingdom in Thailand's history lies over 400 km north of Bangkok, in the ancient city of Sukhothai.

Set in a sprawling UNESCO World Heritage-listed park, the ancient ruins of Sukhothai are surrounded by lush greenery and polished pavements; making the compound best surveyed by bicycle (which are easily hired for as low as 20 Baht or RM 2 a day) . - from world wide web.
