Traveller Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Traveller

From birth to death we travel to journey's end
Seeking why the heart needs love to inspire
Questioning, seeking answers mystifying the mind
Bodies in old age crumpling into death's embrace.
As children we thought ourselves immortal
Never contemplating upon journey's end
Running innocent, spirited, sweet and glorious
Chasing the wind while learning to be an adult.
Discovering in adolescence royal ecstasy of sex
No more innocent but addicted to orgasmic pleasure
With lovers and fresh memories thrilling to the mind.
In old age travelling slower, frail, steps unsure
Mind still clear, but alone, remorseful and hopeful
Grieving over bad choices and wrong roads followed.
